Methodology

How ChoiceRidge researches software, compares products, evaluates evidence and communicates uncertainty.

Last updated: August 11, 2026Language: English

ChoiceRidge evaluates software as a decision problem, not a popularity contest. Our methodology is built to make evidence, assumptions, commercial relationships and limitations visible to readers.

Our evidence hierarchy

  1. Documented hands-on testing. When we use a product, we record the date, plan, scenario and meaningful limitations.
  2. Primary sources. Product documentation, pricing pages, changelogs, policies, status pages and vendor statements.
  3. Independent sources. Technical documentation, credible research, public incident records and verifiable user evidence used with context.
  4. Editorial analysis. Our interpretation of fit, tradeoffs and buyer implications, clearly separated from factual product claims.

Core evaluation criteria

Setup

Technical requirements, onboarding effort, time to value and migration considerations.

Features

Capability depth, important limits and whether features solve the intended workflow.

Ecommerce integrations

Supported platforms, data flow, reliability and practical integration coverage.

Value

Pricing structure, usage limits, likely total cost and value for the target buyer.

Automation

Native workflows, APIs, webhooks and compatibility with orchestration tools.

Documentation

Accuracy, completeness, discoverability and resources for implementation.

Support resources

Available support channels, public service commitments and self-service depth.

Scalability

Operational fit as volume, complexity, markets and team size increase.

How recommendations are formed

We define the buyer profiles and decision criteria before choosing a preferred option. A product may be best for one profile and a poor fit for another. We consider important drawbacks and alternatives, not only strengths.

ChoiceRidge Score status

No public product scores yet

The ChoiceRidge Score framework is in development. We will not publish a numerical rating until its weighting, evidence requirements, update process and limitations are documented well enough to be repeated consistently.

Updates and corrections

Software changes quickly. Material pricing, feature and policy claims should include a checked or updated date where practical. Readers and vendors may submit evidence through our Contact page. We evaluate corrections against sources; commercial pressure alone does not justify changing an editorial conclusion.
